Water storage tanks, designed parametrically
Site-built water storage tanks are a repeat product with a custom result every time; parametric design turns that repetition into software.
- 1.
The problem
Every tank is sized for a capacity, a standard and a site, yet the engineering steps are identical order after order. That repetition is where the hours go, and where the transcription errors between calculation, drawing and BOM come from.
- 2.
The approach
A parametric model holds the rules once. Inputs change; geometry, thickness checks, cut list and documents follow. Tankform is that model, delivered as a browser application.
- 3.
What changes on the shop floor
The cut list matches the plates in stock, the BOM matches the drawing, and the report is ready when the order is confirmed rather than a week later.
